Q. How are edible insects killed? Is the process humane?

A. Live edible insects are placed in a container and the temperature is gradually lowered to induce a hibernation-like state. At this point, they are carefully and humanely euthanized by being placed in a freezer. We do this with care and respect for the life of the insects. Farm raised crickets have an average lifespan of 6-10 weeks, they are euthanized near the end of their lifespan.
